Ashby's under 18 boys' hockey team are celebrating after reaching the semi finals of the England Hockey Super 6s competition.
The boys first secured their place in the Midlands final following a 4 -2 win over Trent College, a 4 - 0 victory against Rugby School and a 4 - 4 draw with Oakham School. All three opponents were teams from independent schools.
In the Midlands final, they played three games, winning two and losing to Repton, to qualify for the semi finals. They were defeated in the semi finals by Bromsgrove School.
PE teacher and coach Vikki Rundle-Brown said: "In the semi final, our boys played extremely well but sadly lost to a tough Bromsgrove team which later lost to Repton in the final.
"Our team put in some strong performances against tough competition from some of the best hockey-playing schools in the country so we're extremely proud of what they achieved and excited to see what they can do next!"
This was also the first time that Ashby School had entered a girls' team in the tournament (pictured below).
Mrs Rundle-Brown added: "For most of the girls, it was the first time they had played indoor hockey. Although they didn't progress to the next round, they showed great determination and resilience and loved the experience."
