A selfless student who went to the rescue of a man in distress has been presented with the Headteacher's Award.
Hayden Soar was out walking close to his home when he came upon the man in a collapsed state and stopped to help. Hayden, who is in Year 10, also called for assistance from others. His actions, which were praised by local police, are believed to have prevented the man's condition from deteriorating further.
Headteacher Dr Jude Mellor, who presented Hayden with his award, said: "We are extremely proud of Hayden for going to the aid of a member of our local community who was in distress.
"His actions showed great maturity, presence of mind and consideration for others. What's more, Hayden embodied our school values of showing respect, accepting responsibility and building resilience for which he thoroughly deserved this award."
