Year 13 - Grades and Appeals Information
19 Aug 2020
The last week has been a very difficult period for us all and I am pleased that the government decided to award students the higher of centre assessed grade or moderated grade.
This final grade will be published to the student portal on 20 August and will replace the previous moderated grades. Students will still be able to access their centre assessed grades through the reports document.
I would like to remind you that the Centre Assessment grades have been through an extremely thorough and robust process using all available evidence and reflect the grades that the centre felt your son or daughter would have achieved had the exams taken place.
There has been a lot of confusion over the appeals process. The mock examination results are no longer being used in isolation as grounds for an appeal. To help clarify this please see a summary of the key points below:
· Candidates are not able to appeal against their centre assessed grade (CAG)
· Candidates are not able to appeal against the process the school used to generate the CAG
· Candidates can appeal if they feel there has been a data calculation error by the school or exam board
· If they feel that there has been bias or discrimination in the calculation of the grade, substantial evidence must be produced to justify an investigation.
If you still believe you have grounds for appeal then you will need to go through email@example.com These queries will be dealt with next week before the internal appeals deadline of 7 September.
Any student wishing to re-take the examination in the autumn term must also contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org before the deadline of 31 August.
I hope that by now your son or daughter's next steps are finalised and they can look forward to the next stage of their life.
