Online Portal Subscriptions, Webinars and Virtual School
10 Sep 2021
Dear Parent/ Carer,
We are writing to advise you of the resources available to support students' learning at Ashby School.
A summary of the online platforms available to students and how to access them can be found here. Students will be given a copy of this to stick in their planners in Friday’s tutor time.
Ashby School subscribes to an ‘award winning’ online resource, GCSEPod, for all Yr10 and Yr11 students to access. This initiative supports their study and allows them to revise many of their subjects remotely.
Join a free GCSEPod parent/carer webinar to find out how you can use GCSEPod to support your child’s learning plus get tips and guidance on effective home learning practices. All your questions will be answered by a GCSEPod expert and you will learn about the best way to make full use of the resource. Please click here to see upcoming dates and to register. The next parent webinar is Wednesday 22nd September.
Ashby Virtual School (AVS)
‘Ashby Virtual School’ is enabling the school to continue to deliver excellent education even when pupils may be unable to attend school in-person. If a pupil is unable to attend school due to illness, related to COVID-19 or otherwise, they have access to online teaching material to support their ongoing learning and delivery of the national curriculum.
The portal also gives students the opportunity to practise/revise areas they have covered in school and identify areas where extra support is required.
New learning and teaching materials are uploaded regularly, ensuring a consistent learning experience so all students can benefit from the school’s expertise.
Hosted by Elevate Education, all Ashby School parents/guardians can access free support webinars – please register here. This term’s schedule:
Tuesday 21 September: How to motivate your child
Tuesday 12 October: Independent Learning - what is it, and how do you get your child doing it?
Tuesday 16 November: The easy way to increase memory
Tuesday 30 November: Getting ready for exams (Part 1)
Further information regarding remote learning at Ashby School can be found here. Should you have any queries, please contact Mrs Tolley, firstname.lastname@example.org.
