Headteacher's Half Term Message
15 Oct 2021
I wanted to write as we come towards the end of a busy half term to thank you for all your support over the last few weeks. It has been a very challenging half term with Covid impacting both staff and student absence and the need to facilitate the testing and vaccination processes which have both seen exceptionally high levels of parental consent. Your support and forbearance with these has been much appreciated.
I would also like to thank all of you who have supported our young people to wear their uniform in both Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5; there is a visible difference around the site, which is great to see. In spite of the challenges posed by Covid, I also wanted to share with you the great news that students have been able to return to many of the extra-curricular opportunities they enjoyed before the pandemic. Our library is full and bustling at social times, our music groups are practising again and our sports teams have been experiencing success in many areas. Alongside this, the Sixth Form dodgeball charity event was a joy to see. We know that students benefit from all the team building and leadership skills these opportunities create.
As ever, there are a few reminders below that I would appreciate you discussing with your child, but mostly I wanted to wish you an enjoyable half-term break.

We have a number of students who are unable to pay for food as their Wisepay account has not been topped up. Can we please ask that you do this on a regular basis, even if your young person doesn’t always remind you it is needed.
Can I please remind you that facial piercings are not part of our uniform policy and will be sanctioned.
We have a number of student support roles which are currently advertised for our school. These include Learning Support and Student Support Assistants and the option to combine these roles is also available if you want to work in this capacity with young people. If you, or anyone you know, is interested in these roles, full details are available on our website or please get in touch.
