Positive Covid Test During Holiday
Should your child develop any symptoms of Covid 19 during the holiday period please have them tested and let the school know the result by emailing us at the following address email@example.com
January Return to School
You will be aware from the media that there will be a staggered return following the Christmas holidays. This is to try to reduce the potential infection rate.
• Year 11 and Year 13 will return on Tuesday 5 January as normal
• Year 10 will return on Monday 11 January except for vulnerable students who will return on 5 January. School will contact you if you are in this category. Children of critical workers can also attend from 5 January. If you intend to send your child in, please contact the school so provision can be made as normal lessons will not be running.
• Year 12 will return on Monday 11 January. Vulnerable students may return on 5 January. School will contact you if you are in this category.
Work for Year 10 and 12 Students
During the four days that students are not in school, they will be educated through a combination of live lessons through Microsoft Teams and work set through the virtual school portal. Students are aware of these and further information can be accessed on the school website www.ashbyschool.org.uk
There are proposals to introduce mass rapid testing into schools in the new year to reduce the number of students who may have to self-isolate and to identify students who may be asymptomatic.
We have received some initial information on this and will be investigating how this could operate at Ashby in the new year. As further details emerge we will keep you fully informed and no testing would take place without your consent.
This has been a very challenging term for everyone but we have got through it. I would like to thank you for the support you have given.
We all at school wish you a happy and safe Christmas holiday.
