All students are expected to adhere to the school's uniform guidelines which help to create a strong sense of school identity and community.
Boys' uniform: David Luke eco jacket, David Luke eco trousers (slim or sturdy fit), white shirt and Ashby School maroon tie (clip on).
Girls' uniform: David Luke eco jacket with David Luke eco trousers or Trutex Castle Tartan pleat skirt (grey), white blouse, Ashby School maroon tie (clip on).
All items, apart from white shirts, must be purchased from the school's registered stockists:
- Ashby Schoolwear at Ashby (in store or online at www.ashbyschoolwear.co.uk from 1 June 2021, with free delivery on items over £50);
- Pupil Schoolwear at Swadlincote (in store or online at www.pupilsschoolwear.co.uk).
Skirts (as above) - All skirts must be purchased from recognised suppliers. No other skirts will be permitted.
Trousers - Black trousers for girls and boys. Trousers must be in a tailored style and made of polyester. They must not be skin tight or jeans or jean or chino-style. We strongly recommend David Luke eco trousers (slim or sturdy fit) which are available from our suppliers. Students in school have tried these on and were happy with both the style and comfort.
Blazers - These are fitted blazers tailored specifically to girls and boys. No other blazers are permitted.
Jumpers - These are optional but, if worn, must be purchased from the recognised suppliers and feature the school logo.
Tights – Tights can be grey, natural or black.
Shirts - Plain white shirt or blouse (long or short-sleeved). Shirts must be tucked in.
Lanyards - These must be worn at all times unless otherwise directed by a member of staff for health and safety purposes.
Socks - Plain dark socks with trousers or skirts. If worn with skirts, sock length should be below the knee.
Shoes - Footwear must be plain, black, polishable shoes that are suitable for school. The whole shoe must be plain black with no coloured logo. If in doubt, please consult school before making a purchase. More details about footwear can be found here.
Outer wear accessories - Hats, scarves and gloves must be smart and professional and fit for purpose. They must be removed when in school buildings. Baseball caps are not permitted on the school site.
Hoodies - Hoodies are not permitted in school.
Outdoor jackets - Jackets must be smart and professional and free of pictures, messages and logos. No denim jackets. Outdoor jackets may have hoods but hoods must be down while studetns are anywhere on school premises unless raining. Jackets must be removed in classrooms.
Belts - Plain only, in keeping with professional office dress. Fashion belts are not permitted.
Hair colour - Hair should be of a natural colour even if dyed (ie. pink/ purple/ blue etc are not acceptable). Hair should be styled in keeping with professional office dress. No extreme styles, such as mohicans, punk styles, hair art and tattooing. Any of the above will be result in a student being placed in inclusion.
Jewellery - Sleeper or stud earrings only. No excessive jewellery. Students wearing excessive jewellery or belts will be asked to remove the items and hand them in to the Year 10/ 11 office for collection at the end of the school day.
Piercings - No facial piercings are permitted (tongue, nose, lip etc). Any students wearing these will be required to remove studs/ rings and hand them in to the Year Office for collection at the end of the school day. Alternatively, you will be asked wear a retainer or clear plastic stud.
Tattoos - No visible tattoos are permitted. Any students with a visible tattoo will be required to cover it during the school day.

Mobile phones, smartphones etc are not permitted in school for use at break and lunchtime in outside areas only. Phones must be switched off in the school building and not be heard or seen. Students are not permitted to use their phones to record or film around school. Any student found doing this will be asked to delete any material in front of a member of staff and may have their phone confiscated for return to a parent.
Music players/ earphones
Music players and earphones are permitted in school for use outside at break and lunchtime. All earpieces should be kept out of sight. If they are visible, they will be confiscated and made available for collection at the end of the school day.
