Welcome to Ashby School
Ashby School is a mixed comprehensive school for students aged 14 to 19. Its long and proud history can be traced back to August 1567 when a boys’ school was first founded in Ashby. Click here to go to History of Ashby School.
Ashby School remains at the forefront of educational progress. In 2006, the school successfully renewed its Technology College status and was also awarded a second specialism, becoming a Specialist Languages College. See Specialist Schools status.
As a result, the school provides students with outstanding opportunities and facilities in both of these subject areas. Students also achieve impressive results in subjects across the curriculum.
GCSE examination results are consistently high and, in recent years, the school has been among the top performing state schools in Leicestershire.
Advanced level examination grades are also well above the national average. In 2008, students achieved the school’s highest A level pass rate ever – at 98.5 per cent.
Students are encouraged to enjoy and achieve outside the classroom by taking part in sporting activities, drama, music or any of the other educational, social, recreational and international opportunities on offer. (See Extra Curricular Activities and Diary Dates).
There are many opportunities to make a positive contribution to the school community, through charity work, the House system and various other voluntary schemes.
Throughout their time at the school, students are given support and advice to enable them to be healthy and stay safe, through PSHEE (Personal, Social,  Health and Enterprise Education) sessions, sporting initiatives, a programme of healthy eating on-site, and the school’s close relationships with outside agencies.
It is hoped that, by giving students a broad and balanced education, Ashby School can ensure that they go on to achieve personal happiness and economic well-being.
